Ashley Nelson, LPC (pronouns: she/her/hers), is a licensed professional counselor that is passionate about helping others develop a stronger sense of self by offering a safe and non judgmental space for clients to discuss problems and process difficult emotions. She received her Masters in Counselor Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Toledo. Ashley values helping clients through difficult life challenges and assisting them to develop skills to help live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. She works with individuals to develop effective coping strategies to manage difficult emotions.
Ashley has worked in the mental health field for over 10 years, with clinical experience working with a diverse population struggling with anxiety, depression, life stressors, relational issues, and trauma. She has extensively worked in community mental health settings, providing individual, family, and group counseling to adults. She also works diligently to help clients connect with community resources and local supports, while also working to empower clients of their own resiliency. She has also previously worked at a children’s advocacy center teaching safety education and collaborating on a multidisciplinary treatment team assisting individuals impacted by trauma.
Ashley utilizes a holistic approach using evidenced based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and incorporating mindfulness and solution focused therapy depending on the unique needs of the individual and their therapy goals.
Ashley works collaboratively with clients to develop their treatment goals and help them work towards gaining self-awareness, self-acceptance, and improving their emotional and physical well-being.
