Janice Mitcham, MPH, LMSW (pronouns: she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience in therapy, public health, social work, and mental health care, dedicated to working with diverse cultural groups. Janice received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan, her Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan School of Social Work. At Everwell Health and Counseling Services, Janice enjoys helping others find their voice and has worked with people from all backgrounds and ages: child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Janice has specialized training in Community Health Science, Maternal and Child Health, and Minority Health. She completed internships with the Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (COSTEP) with the Illinois Primary Health Care Association and the Illinois Department of Corrections- Juvenile Division, where she provided counseling and developed programs for incarcerated pregnant and parenting adolescents. Janice also interned with the Region V Office of Minority Health through COSTEP, providing services to the six Region V states for grant assistance, minority health program development, and culturally sensitive care.
Her work with family systems and minority health, led to her interest in becoming a therapist. Janice has provided therapy and community-based services with Michigan Medicine’s Turner Geriatric Center, identifying needs of patients and their families in areas such as caregiver support, dementia, and acceptance of aging. She has also worked for Michigan Medicine, providing therapy in its middle and high school-based health centers, where she continued her passion of working with adolescents and their families. Most recently, Janice worked with adults for the Michigan Medicine Department of Psychiatry’s Michigan Depression Outreach and Collaborative Care Program (MDOCC).
Janice works with individuals, family, couples and groups, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing for many mental health concerns and life stressors. She is Certified in Advanced Clinical Dementia Practice and Clinical Concerns and Gender Identity. Janice is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
